National Museum
The National Museum in New Delhi, also referred to as the National Museum of India, stands as one of India's most expansive museums. Founded in 1949, it showcases an extensive collection spanning from the pre-historic era to contemporary artistic creations. Operating under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, its inception was guided by the blueprints drafted by the Gwyer Committee, appointed by the Indian government in 1946. With approximately 200,000 pieces, predominantly Indian but also including foreign artifacts, the museum offers a comprehensive overview of over 5,000 years of history and culture.
The National Museum, also recognized as the National Museum of India, is located on Janpath in New Delhi.
